Overview
Athens is one of the oldest capitals of Europe with a history of more than 2,500 years. In this tour we will go through the historical center of the city on a ride that will connect the past and present and the glorious history of Athens with the everyday life of its people. We will visit the areas where Plato and Socrates taught, museums and traditional neighborhoods of old Athens but also parts of the historic city that mirror modern life as it is nowadays. Our wish is to offer you an experience that will travel you in time and make you feel like a piece of this so intense city puzzle where every neighborhood has its own culture and history!This tour is not demanding at all and can be performed by people who like going by bike without them having to be long-distance cyclists to participate. Our route is flat with short uphill and downhill sections that will only make our trip even more fun.

Itinerary
Starting from Flat Tyres shop, we' ll cycle on the metropolitan Athens bikelane moving to the heart of the city. Kerameikos Cemetery is the first ancient site on our way. Next up, we are going to 'get lost' through the narrow pedestrian streets of Psirri district, until we reach 'Varvakios' market, the traditional and biggest fish, meat and spices market of Athens. Following some pavement streets of Athens, we 'll find ourselves cycling through the famous Monastiraki square, cycling to the Greek Ancient Agora and the Roman Ancient Agora.It's time for a smooth ride through Plaka, the most special and unique district of Athens. Cycling to Syntagma square we will see the Greek Parliament and the famous Evzones, guarding the monument of the Unknown Soldier. Time for a breath of fresh air cycling through the National Garden to reach Zappeion Hall. A couple of spins lead us to the Panathenaic Stadium, also known as 'Kallimarmaro'. This is where the first modern Olympic Games took place back in 1896. After a wonderful route, we will see the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Arch of Hadrian. Cycling on Athens most famous pedestrian road under the sacred rock of Acropolis, we will see the Acropolis Museum and the Odeon of Herodes Atticus. Cycling downhill the rest of Athens most famous pedestrian road will lead us back to Flat Tyres shop where our tour ends.
